Northern beauty
Horseshoe-shaped, the bay rests in front of Puerto Pollenca and gives the scenery free to the imposing and wild Tramuntana mountains with its rugged cliffs. In the water of the bay reflects the small enchanting place that once served as a fishing port and today – for individual travelers to yacht owners – has become a popular destination. Because the northwest of the Balearic island of Mallorca is characterized by a whole own magic, the vacationers return again and again.
Puerto Pollenca is located in the north of the island.
Here form the two peninsulas Formentor and La Victoria the beautiful bay of Puerto Pollensa. In fact, this part of the Balearic island was already developed touristically early – after the war, especially the British were preferred to make this coastline for a vacation. It is fortunate that strongholds were developing elsewhere at different times, as it has spared Puerto Pollenca – and even today – the construction of densely packed concrete tower blocks.
Mediterranean charm along the lanes
In Puerto Pollenca, travelers will first come across the Passeig Vora Mar. This is a superb walk that runs for 1.5 kilometers along the bay, lined with ancient, mighty trees. While strolling along you will see the beach, the remarkable villas of the village and then at the end of the seaside promenade the Illa d’Or – a perfectly located hotel. Impressive is also the route along the marina – there is much to discover!
During the day, the village is particularly well suited for family holidays, because the white, fine sand beach is flat, so parents here can play their children safely in the water. For the physical well-being in Puerto Pollena always worried: Numerous bars, restaurants and pubs are located not only at the port facilities, but also in the streets that lead to the center.
Sportily recover in Puerto Pollenca
Athletes are drawn to Puerto Pollensa, because the water sports are here enormous. Sailing and surfing, scuba diving and snorkeling – if you feel better in the water than on land, you will experience happy hours here. It is also possible to rent a boat and head for the beautiful beach of Formentor for example. However, the island of Majorca is also famous among cyclists – especially the area around Puerto Pollenca offers many opportunities here, because the Tramuntana mountains stretches here and is perfect for hiking as well as for biking.
Art, culture and breathtaking nature
From the port city of Puerto Pollensa it is not far to the inland town of Pollensa. It is the capital of this municipality and, in addition to a wide range of gastronomic offers, it offers above all art and culture. In Pollença there are leather shops, jewelers, but also galleries and workshops where sophisticated art is created and exhibited.
