Es Trenc is a beautiful natural white sandy beach between Sa Rapita and Colonia Sant Jordi. Except for a few individual houses on the beach there is no development. With its turquoise, crystal clear waters and beautiful white beach, Es Trenc is an absolute crowd puller.

Many Spaniards and Mallorcans also come here on the weekend, who like to come to the Es Trenc all day long with the entire extended family, complete picnic equipment and meals.

Unfortunately the famous Chiringuitos have been torn down by the government in 2017. But in the yacht club in Sa Rapita you can still enjoy a wonderful view of the beach while eating.

Other beautiful and popular beaches and coves include Cala Pi, Cala Llombards, Cala Almunia, Cala Moro, Cala Santanyi and Cala Mondrago. Also, the Playa de Carago is very beautiful and not overcrowded in midsummer, as the beach can only be reached by water or with a short hike from the lighthouse of Ses Salines.

Close to Es Trenc beach there are also the salt fields, the Sallines de Llevant. Here, the finest Flor de Sal (the flower of salt) is extracted, refined with Mediterranean herbs and other natural ingredients and made into a Balearic flagship product.

The Flor de Sal d’Es Trenc has been celebrating its ever-growing triumph since 2003 and is being offered in more and more countries around the world. The Parc natural de Mondragó – Natural Park of Mondragó – is a nature reserve in the municipality of Santanyí. It is located between the coastal villages of Portopetro in the northeast and Cala Figuera in the southeast of Majorca.
The 760-hectare nature park was protected by an initiative of the environmental organization in 1992 and declared a special bird sanctuary a few years later.

Tens of thousands of visitors come here each year to enjoy the untouched nature. With a visit to the nature park, you can also make a detour to the island’s two most beautiful bays, S’Amarador and Sa Font de N’Alis.

Weekly market in Santanyi, Cala Figueras natural harbor and the island of Cabrera

Since the south of Mallorca is one of the driest and sunniest regions of the island, especially German holiday home owners like to settle here.
Santanyi is in itself a quiet and contemplative little place, which is brought to life especially on the days of Wednesday and Saturday.

On these days, the very popular weekly market takes place in Santanyi and there is hustle and bustle in the cafes and restaurants around the market square. Particularly noteworthy in the market is the delicious fresh fish, which can be bought in a hall, and the most popular in Mallorca fried roast chicken.

A visit to Santanyi is also worthwhile on other days, because in the beautiful cityscape dominated by the old houses, especially in the morning or evening light, the warm golden yellow of Mares Sandstone, which is broken in the quarries in the area.

Definitely worth a visit is the church of Sant Andreu Apostol, built in the 18th century by Antonio Mesquida. Inside is an organ of the most famous organ builder of Spain. It was restored using German funds. In 1837 she was transferred from the former monastery Sant Domenec in Palma to Santanyi.

Continue from Santanyi to Cala Figuera, a traditional and still very quiet fishing village on the coast. Since there is no beach, only a few tourists visit this place. We recommend a walk around the small natural harbor followed by lunch or dinner in one of the nice restaurants along the promenade.
Particularly noteworthy is the restaurant “Pura Vida” (a bit hidden at the very end of the village). From here you have a fantastic sea view!

If you want to experience something very special, take a trip to the smallest inhabited Balearic island Cabrera. Cabrera is still as original as Mallorca 100 years ago and offers pure nature and tranquility.

The island can be reached in about 30 minutes by boat from Colonia Sant Jordi. Either you leave Cabrera after about 4 hours together with all the other guests or you stay overnight.
This is possible since April 2014, even if you do not own a boat. Former military barracks have been converted into a total of twelve double rooms, which are now available to tourists for overnight stays.
